Several of our JROTC leaders had an opportunity to attend the City Corps Staff JROTC Citywide Military Ball. Check out some pictures from the event here! Through our partnership with SocialWorks Chicago, we were fortunate enough to be invited to the Obama Foundation Summit at UIC. A few of our students shared their thoughts:
Sonia What I got from Obama foundation summit is that we all should be united for one cause. All of us that were there were the future of this generation. We saw many great people there. Great leaders of this country and city. I saw the United States 44th president Barack Obama. We also saw his wife Michelle Obama that came from Chicago. A great leader that has given back to this city Chance The Rapper. They are all an inspiration for us young leaders to do greater things. We should all do and follow their examples and try to change the atmosphere in this city. I believe we can all make a change by uniting and stepping up. Jenny The Obama Foundation Summit was so fun! We got see the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama, the First Lady Michelle Obama, Chance the Rapper, and many more well known world leaders and entertainment icons who want to make a change in the city of Chicago. They all gave emotional and motivating speeches that made us hopeful. There was also music all night to celebrate all the positive things that the people of Chicago are receiving. It was definitely an experience that I will always remember and that I'm sure everyone who attended enjoyed. Congratulations to our stellar students of the month for September! Nice job, Edgar Estrada, Giessel Juarez, and Yesenia Robles! Keep up the good work!

The film focuses on the deep inequalities in America's education system that are keeping millions of students in digital darkness. Without A Net, narrated by Academy and Grammy Award® winner Jamie Foxx, which premiered on National Geographic at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday, September 26th, spotlights the 'haves' and 'have nots' as it relates to technology in classrooms and presents the emotional and economic impact on students who lack access. CLHS was one of many schools featured. See if you can find some of the times where our faculty and students made brief cameos! |
